Synopsis

BtBSR is an audiovisual meditation on the symbol of the “black sun” and its role in past and present spiritual traditions, alchemy, psychoanalysis, occultism, and politics. BtBSR approaches this symbol as a broader concept, aiming to poetically emphasize and explore its psychological and mythological aspects. As one of the most frequently depicted symbols in human cultures across all continents, the black sun is a rich and significant source of inspiration and deep reflection.

Method

Escher Fucker blends alchemical inspiration with glitch art, electronic/industrial music, analog feedback, and post-digital aesthetics. Our techniques include using video mixers to manipulate analog PAL signal, video feedback loops, and rescanning CRT displays to create unique visuals. BtBSR is a dynamic exploration of analog and digital, audio and visual, futurism and anarcheology, capturing new and fading technologies.
